OAK CREEK COMMUNITY PARK — Dog Park Improvement Project

Community Survey

The City of Irvine is planning to build the community a bigger, better dog park to serve the needs of pet owners in Irvine, as part of planned improvents at Oak Creek Community Park. We know residents enjoy the 2.15-acre Central Bark Dog Park, and we want to ensure a new dog park meets your expectations while providing an even better experience.

It is important to note that construction will be coordinated to allow for the current dog park to remain open until the new dog park is complete.

Through a license agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE) the City can expand Oak Creek Community Park by approximately 8 acres to add various upgrades to the park. This expansion provides plenty of room for enhanced park amenities for people, and an improved dog park for people and their pets.

This survey will give you the opportunity to provide feedback on the dog park location within the community park, questions regarding your use of dog parks, which amenities you’d like to see in an expanded dog park, and how you think dog owners in Irvine would best benefit from a new site at Oak Creek Community Park. You will also be able to provide input on general added amenities being considered for Oak Creek Community Park.

PART ONE - Preliminary Concept

In this set of questions, you will review a concept plan exploring major additions to Oak Creek Community Park. This plan is a draft concept plan designed to solicit community feedback on the locations proposed for major park amenities, including the dog park.

Oak Creek Park - Preliminary Concept

In the Preliminary Concept, the 2.15-acre Central Bark Dog Bark is relocated to Oak Creek Community Park along Sand Canyon Avenue, on the site of a current soccer field. That soccer field would be relocated to the other side of the park, along Valley Oak Drive. The dog park would be accessed off of Sand Canyon and a separation between the dog park and soccer field would be provided with landscaping. This concept results in a 2.37-acre dog park.

3. Do you like the location, proportion and layout of the small and large sections of the dog park?

PART TWO - Dog Park Amenities

We want to make sure the proposed dog park at Oak Creek Community Park maintains what you love about the existing dog park, and adds amenities that make the new park even better.  Your input could also assist in the development of future dog parks at other City locations. Our ultimate goal is to understand your perspective on the priority amenities that should be included at City dog parks.

7. Please check all dog park amenities/elements that you would like to include in City dog parks.
